Accokeek First Church of God is currently without a permanent pastor. In September 2011 our pastor, Rev. Darrell Hazard, went to be with the Lord.
We are in the process of reviewing candidates for the position. Please keep us in your prayers that the Lord would prepare the shepherd for our congregation as well as Godly wisdom for those members on the Pastoral Search Committee.
On May 20, 2012, Rev and Sis Reid have agreed to walk along side our congregation as interim pastors.
They will begin meeting with church leadership and members during June and begin regular pulpit duties in July.
Rev. Daryl J. Reid Sr. is the son of Drs. Noah and Carolyn Reid, recently retired co-pastors of Langley Ave Church of God, Chicago, Illinois.
He is a graduate of Anderson University and Reformed Episcopal Seminary in Philadelphia.
He has been an ordained minister of the Church of God for 33 years and served as pastor of Monroe Street Church of God from May 1990 until January 2007. He is currently an associate minister at Shepherd Park Community Church of God in Washington, D.C. under the leadership of Pastor Howard K. Hammond.
Rev. Reid is married to the former Sylvia Fowler of Brooklyn, N.Y. They will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary this year and have three children: Daryl Jr. (deceased), Tysarah and Daniel.
