Minister Johnson received his Certificate of Ministry in 2002 from Pastor Ross Johnson at Tulane Memorial Baptist Church in Louisiana. He served as the assistant minister there, performing various functions including: altar prayers, vacation bible school, youth ministry trips, leadership retreats, sermons. Following Hurricane Katrina, Minister Johnson moved to Living the Word Ministries (LTW), also in Louisiana, under Pastors Lawrence and Shaquita Weathersby. While at LTW, Minister Johnson led a youth dance troupe and participated in men’s ministry.
In 2006, Minister Johnson moved to Maryland and joined Victory Christian Ministries under Pastors Tony and Cynthia Brazelton. He participated in drama and dance ministries until God led him to join the Accokeek First Church of God (AFCOG) in 2008. Minister Johnson currently resides in Waldorf, MD with his wife, Tamekia and daughter, Mia.
Outside of the church, he served 10 years as a commissioned officer in the United States Coast Guard and is currently a watch officer with the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Washington, DC. Minister Johnson obtained a Bachelor of Science in Management from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, a Masters in Quality Systems from the National Graduate School, and is currently enrolled in a Masters in Homeland Security program with the Center for Homeland Defense and Security at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.
Paula Holyfield Collins is a newly commissioned minister through the Chesapeake, Delaware, and Potomac General Assembly of the Church of God (Anderson). She was saved at youth camp as a teenager and later as an adult, recommitted her life to Christ. She has served in the Accokeek First Church of God since 1984. She has taught the Kindergarten, Youth, Young Adults, and Adult classes in this period of time; served as Youth Leader from 1998 through 2005; served as leader for the worship ministry, and is currently serving as vice-chair of the church, She teaches Bible Studies and leads the Women's Group Bible Studies. She is a lifetime member of the Church of God Christian Women Connection.
Minister Collins is the daughter of the Rev. Paul and Mavis Holyfield of Clarksburg, WV. She earned a B.S. Degree (biology) from West Virginia Wesleyan College and her M.A. (library media) from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She is currently taking courses through the Center for Christian Leadership at Anderson University School of Theology.
Paula Collins is the mother of two adult children.
Our congregation is served by two ministers. They tend to our needs while we are without a permenant pastor, provide guidance, support, and also preach when they are called upon.
